I love the possibility of a new year and all of the changes that it can bring. I find that there are two natural turning points every year: January and September. I take January as an opportunity to use the power of intention and focus to direct the year where I want it to go.
I have been particularly business-focused in this past year and that was what I needed in 2015. I loved the excitement of this past year, but in 2016 I am ready to relax, enjoy and bask more.
This brings me to my favourite trick for setting up my year: choosing a theme!
One of my favourite themes was “EXPANSION,” which was my focus a few years ago. For me, it meant growth, newness, abundance and being open.
I especially focused on the expansion of time, because I was constantly feeling the pressure of not having enough time at that point in my life. I incorporated a self-statement/mantra/affirmation to reinforce the theme of expansion of time: “there’s always enough time to do the things you want to do.” Every time I felt short of time, I said this statement to myself and changed my mindset.
The result was mind-blowing…I felt like I had expanded time! It was funny because I teach my clients about the power of mindset all the time, but as I often say, “words don’t teach…it’s a life experience that teaches.” I truly experienced the power of a shifted mindset.
My theme for 2016 is going to be “EASE.” My goal is to experience more peacefulness, to stop working so hard, to enjoy every day. I’m going to use this theme to guide as many decisions as I can.
What’s your theme for 2016? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below.
