Rashmani Chakrabarty

Registered Psychologist

"It is when you’re going through the most difficult chapter of life that your hero is revealed, and how beautiful it is
when you finally realize – you have the strength to save yourself." – Dodinsky

As a person who has worn both the therapist and client hat, Rashmani understands the courage it takes clients to approach mental health practitioners. Many of us have experienced struggles in our lives, including myself. Whether it is trauma, chronic pain/illness, racial discrimination, grief and loss, or depression/anxiety, these experiences often leave us feeling mentally, physically, and emotionally drained. During these times it can be hard to reach out for help. We may feel alone, lost, or tired of our circumstances.

Rashmani’s beliefeves is that no matter the struggles an individual has faced, every person has the desire, capacity, and ability to heal and experience growth. She also believes that each person experiences struggles differently, and therefore, requires a unique approach for their particular reality. She is passionate and committed to meeting clients where they are and working with their distinct needs.

Rashmani describes herself as a BIPOC trauma therapist. She has a master’s degree in counselling psychology and enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages and genders. She is passionate about diversity and inclusion and enjoys working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds including, but not limited to, Indigenous, racialized, and 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals.
She aims to be a self-reflective, trauma-informed, and integrative therapist. To meet clients and their unique needs, she has gained experience and knowledge in several therapeutic modalities. She is an EMDR certified therapist and has experience with Narrative therapy, Attachment Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, and Mindfulness.

Her personal approach to working with clients is in a warm, flexible, compassionate, and
relational manner. She enjoys bringing her authentic and genuine self into her therapy practice. She takes a non-expert stance in her work with clients and works to empower and support her clients through their unique healing journey.
